Liverpool centre-back Jamie Carragher admitted he would have no problem leaving the club should the Reds fail to extend his contract which ends next season.

The 32-year-old has become synonymous with the Merseyside club having spent his entire career at Anfield, yet he confessed to the Sunday Times he would not find it difficult to leave Liverpool if a contract was not forthcoming.

“The club [Liverpool] will give me a new contract if they want to," he explained.

"If not, it doesn't matter, I'll still play my best and if I have to move then I'll move, no problem. It wouldn't bother me."

The defender compared the decision to when he opted to retire from international football back in 2007 and insisted he was not afraid of making big calls.

"I made the England decision quickly and didn't dwell on it and I'm not scared of making big decisions,” he added,

“It's a club thing. It's down to them. I'll keep playing and see where it takes me."

Carragher has made over 500 appearances for the Reds since signing professional terms in 1996, winning two FA Cup titles, two League Cup titles and the Champions League in 2005.
