Portuguese table toppers Benfica were unable to hold on to their 2-1 lead from the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final against Liverpool and were eventually beaten 5-3 on aggregate.
Defender Sidnei was impressed with Liverpool's strong performance, but pointed out that things could have gone completely different if Benfica's finishing was a bit more clinical.
"Tonight it was a very even match. It was a well-contested match, in which they made best use of the chances they had. We searched, we played the way we always play, with a lot of ball possession. We also managed to create some dangerous chances, but we weren't able to finish them," said Sidnei on the official UEFA website.
"Liverpool really have a great team and have everything they need to go on and reach the final. I wouldn't be surprised if they manage to win the Europa League this season."
